Movie fans are in for a treat with the release of some highly anticipated movies in the coming weeks!

Check out what we’re getting excited for:

1.  Birdman (October, 17)

The movie stars Michael Keaton as a washed-up actor who once played an iconic super hero who tries to regain his past glory- by putting together a broadway play. The word on the street is that Keaton’s getting an oscar nod for this role. It’s directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarittu, the guy behind “Babel” and “21 Grams”, so I don’t advise you to go watch the movie, I command you to.

2. St Vincent (October 24)

Even though the plot is all but new (an old, grumpy guy makes friend with the boy that just moved in next door… this sounds like “About a boy” or even “Gran Torino”), it stars Bill Murray, Melissa Mc Carthy and Naomi Watts. Bill Murray, yes, you read correctly.  So far there’s a lot of hype around the film with talk about it being Murray’s greatest role.  Go buy your ticket now. Did I mention it stars Bill Murray?

3. Interstellar :

There will be no escaping this blockbuster by Christopher Nolan on November 7. The movie has been dubbed a breed between “Cli-fi” (new  term for “climate change fiction” and “Sci-fi”). The storyline remains a little unclear on purpose to highten anticipation and mystery: “a group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage”. With Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hatthaway as main actors, it sounds like we will have no choice but to watch it.

4. Exodus (release date: Dec,12):                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Put together a biblical story directed by Ridley Scott with John Turturro Aaron Paul (yes, that’s Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad), Christian Bale, Sigourney Weaver, throw in some nice gladiators in skirts + some great special effects and you should get your Christmas movie. The story follows the defiant leader Moses as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses. Scott claims that the movie will be “f**cking huge” in its scope, which isn’t hard to believe when you watch the trailer.

It’s been a while since we’ve had such great movies to look forward to! Which ones top your list?

(The release dates indicated are for the US)
